Sleepy Friday February 26th (aka Finally Friday)

Morning!

So at 8PM our video guy started to upload a scene that I had to process for release at Midnight. Around 9PM I noticed that the scene's 4k video file was "stuck" at 3.1GB for about 10 min. The "last modified" time was changing, but the file size wasn't. Turns out his connection took a shit, so he's on with his ISP trying to fix it for like an hour, but they need to send a guy out there today. I told him to start uploading it (again) and go to bed. Watched it for about 30 min, figured out that it was gonna take about 6 hours to upload, blogged to the members that we suck & went to bed. Just woke up at 6 to see it finally uploaded around 1:15AM. So yeah, that was my Thursday evening.

So working on that now, later I need to run some errands, and the rest of the day will be working on this & that.

Tending to wifey and packing to be ready to move tomorrow evening

... still havent figured what the biz registration is going to look like in yet another new country - id kinda prefer offshore, but some of the billers wont send to backs outside the registered region, EU, looking a registering in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta and others, but nothing has clicked into place yet ...and I HATE such bureaucratic admin hehe

In other news 2 elks were spying on us from the forest 50meters away ... they seemed quite interested in me & the doggy roaming around - I guess they are well aware the elk hunting season is over

We are facing a 3 week lockdown starting next March 8th. Silly virus is spreading because too many are going out to the bars and restaurants. We had a case of that in the town we used to live in - someone who had a positive test and been told to quarantine decided it was more important to go out partying and exposed quite a few others. The shipyard on the coast of our area has over 800 infected and 1200 in quarantine. So... into lockdown we go. Again. Doesn't impact us much. We may see vaccines this summer as they keep reducing the number we are receiving, they say due to supply issues.

Still, live goes on. I have about 2 more days on my non-adult project then I can get back to slinging porn. Can't wait.

Good news is he'll watch me then it's beers on him and even though he isn't drinking due to the health issues, I'll be taking my 2-3 free

Is it because of the bars and restaurants though really? I see people blame them all the time yet here in Canada, there is no "partying". It's 4 to a table max! It's 25% capacity max! And they stop serving alcohol at 9pm and you have to leave by 10pm. How are soooooo many getting infected there? In Canada they are NOT but people say "there's no reason for bars and restaurants to be open". My thought is REALLY? NO reason? How about
- those workers need to feed their families too
- those business owners need to survive and feed their families
Those are the 2 most important factors in opening up small business and local restaurants but let's also add:
- some people live alone and the mental strain is of being alone is taking a toll (suicides are up and substance abuse is Way up)
- most couples cannot live together 24 hours a day 7 days a week (divorces are on the rise)
- people work from home instead of interaction at an office, so again "getting out" is a big mental health booster

Good Morning

Need to run some errands in preparation to see the grandson and then do a some biz stuff while watching tv.

Resident Alien is a new tv show on syfy network (halfway thru the season) that I am finding very funny. Kinda glad I have to wait every week for a new episode or else I would of binged it in a day or two.

Enjoy your F'ing COVID Friday!

Ramster, I completely agree with you in many ways but... contact tracing is done quite aggessively here. So many of the cases are from bars (where few socially distance even with the reduced number of customers). The one in the town where we used to live was absolutely traced to the bar mainly because he infected 2 employees during his visit. With the cases at the shipyard, most of those are immigrants living in crowded shared housing with no way to isolate. Even if they could, they need the paycheck so off to work they go infecting everyone along the way. They do compensate the businesses here for having to close, and they are still allowed to do takeout. They just can't have people sitting at the tables after the 8th. And yes, our local papers have had pictures of full bars with little distancing running almost daily. Several bars have been ordered to close for 2 weeks for violating the restrictions. They are also closing public buildings, libraries, theaters, and there is talk of them closing one of the shopping malls near the shipyard. Exercise groups and other hobby group are closed down, and the schools are back on remote learning after next week. They are being very strict on the gathering of more than 6 right now. Vaccinations for most of us won't happen until summer if we are lucky.

Finns are funny people. Most of us thrive on the solitude, oddly enough. There are some that crave the human contact naturally. The things that are open to us without restrictions (outside the groups of 6) are the ski trails and ice skating areas on the lakes. Every town has them it seems. The days are getting longer and warmer now and that seems to keep a lot of us going.

And a side note.. The Husband and I have been together nearly 10 years - 24/7 except for about 10 days total in that time. We haven't killed each other yet, nor have we even talked divorce. Life is pretty normal for us in reality.

In Ottawa and throughout Ontario, Everything was closed here from December 26th to February 16th, 7 weeks. Malls, closed. Indoor dining, closed. Gyms and theatres, closed. Hair salons/barbers, closed. Bars/restaurants can do take out and many are doing quite well at it, the issue is the workers loss of income. Unemployment coverage doesn't even come close to covering their loss of tips.

I was ok with periodic shut downs at first and I Always follow the rules and my wife are I get along great so no issues. But that doesn't mean others get along great. We have to stop thinking about "ourselves" and worry about others too. At what point does it become too much? It's too much already for many sadly

My wife hasn't worked in almost a year, March 17th, 2020 her company closed and hasn't opened since so she and all of her co-workers have been out of work and though the government in Canada has been handing out money to those people, $2,000/month which helps, it's not enough LONG term. We're almost at a year and my wife's coworkers are expected to live on $24,000 for the past year when they used to make $50,000 - $60,000 or more? It's not possible! People are moving in with friends and parents (one friend rented her condo out and moved in with her Mom), others are drawing from their retirement money and savings or running up their credit cards. These options are better than being dead of course or spreading the virus to others and having them dead but I just think a year in, can't there be a better way than ruining people's lives?

And FYI, my wife's work doesn't expect to be allowed to open until everyone has a vaccine, that, IF we're lucky will be September, that will be 18 months closed without a pay for her and 100 or so co-workers and that's just 1 company sample. (thankfully I made lots of money so it's not an issue financially for us)

It is extremely rugged to get through all this. We have had about 6 months or so of fairly normal living, though masked and with social distancing. Our shutdown only applies to certain areas of the country, where the virus is very actively spreading. We went from being one of the lowest to one of the highest in no time, thanks to the shipyard.

Our government has been preparing us to develop a new "normal" after the virus dies down a bit - probably May. And as areas move out of the spreading phase and back to accelerating or base, the restrictions are slowly lifted on the kids first. Offices may never reopen to what they were before the pandemic thanks to remote working. Fewer open offices mean fewer people to staff and clean them, so new jobs must be found or skills enhanced to allow remote working.

Some definitely rebel against any restrictions, but they do promise they will ask us to do whatever we need to slow this beast down, including curfews and complete closures. I would love this to have some sort of freedom - we are talking about going somewhere for our 10th anniversary this fall... and right now, travel is discouraged. Sigh.
