Been working on ClitPass. Front page finished. That only leaves about 150 pages to go.

Still, I at least have a template for the pages now, so the remaining 150 or so pages should only take about.....give or take a day or two.......forever!

I gave up on politics years ago. Tend to treat it like a sit-com these days. The expenses scandals over here a few years back were really funny if you didn't take them seriously. And "DuffyGate" was genuinely one of the funniest things I have ever seen on TV.

I was supposed to be taking it over as a going concern, along with a couple of PCs other sites. But things went belly up. I ended up with the domain name and some corrupted scripts. So it is currently re-directing to another link site while I try to rebuild with new scripts and HTML. It is a bastard of a job, really don't know why I'm doing it!

Thanks. Currently using the WayBackMachine at archive.org to see what the site looked like before it died. I am making it as similar as possible to the original site but with a fixed div advert bar at the top, and fixed div friends list to the right.

I got a brainfart yesterday that has turned into a bug in my ass & will probably consume most of my working time for the next few days/weeks, unless I can do it with a couple of well planned search & replaces. Basically, removing 1 sub category & adding another on all the LOR pages.

Normally I would make some snide comment about using include files so that you only have to change one thing. Then I would crow about how I always use include files for menus and other stuff that occurs on more than one page.....However:

While walking the dogs today I decided to move the fixed ad bar from the top of the page to the bottom of the page on ClitPass. Would have been an easy 60 second job if, as I normally do, I had put the style sheets in an include file. But for the first time I did not do that. So I have just had to go through all the bloody shtml pages I created yesterday, and the ones I created between 4am and 11am today, and redo the style commands on every sodding page.

Well this is fun: I have very limited Javascript skills, and only started seriously using CSS earlier this year. Using these limited skills I'm trying to design a suitable dropdown menu for ClitPass. I've downloaded two different scripts, each of which do some of the functions I want, but neither do everything. So now I'm trying to work out how each piece of the codes work, and build a suitable piece of code that does exactly what I want, bu merging the bits I need from each script. I'm learning a lot as I go along, but I have a nasty feeling I'm going to be spending all weekend doing something that a competent CSS/Javascript programmer could have thrown together in an hour or so.

Currently learning how to use cPanel!

I have been running websites for about 20 years, and this is the first time I have used un-managed hosting, so the first time I have needed to know more about servers that "how to use FTP".

Had to download software to make my computer compatible with cPanel. As I was using the XP computer I was a little worried they would not have software that old and I'd have to use one of the more modern machines, which would be a pain, because I design sites on the XP machine, and it would add work if I had to transfer them.

But no problem. They had software as far back as Windows 98. However I was amused to see that they did not yet have Windows 10 compatible software. Glad I didn't upgrade when everyone said I should have done so!
