The main point of these "new FHG" threads is, I think, to tell "we are still here". I'd see no problem with this as long as the sponsor is real. And a "newsletter service" is optional thing for most of the sponsors. But if they're spamming you despite your vote, it's definitely the reason for saying bye bye.
