These are "filtering links". The idea is that it stops some of the surfers who have no intention of paying any money for anything, so that you get a higher sale to click ratio. It used to make sense when bandwidth was expensive and you did not want to waste money giving free samples to freeloaders. It still makes sense if the sponsor is paying per click, or if you are advertising on something like AdWords. But putting it on FHGs (with a revshare or pay per sale deal) is bloody stupid. Yet most of my sponsors do it! (Which is one of the reasons this business is making so little money - don't blame it all on the tubes!) |
Agree completely.
Pirates who have also become programs make the most banal, lame, porn. I think that's a reason as well. Tubes just part of it you are correct.
