I still have blogs, but have not updated any in too long, simply because they aren't making money! As to blog directories: Having been burned over the years by blog directories that send bugger all traffic back, if you hope to get worthwhile blogs giving you a link back, you need to be able to prove you are sending reasonable traffic. (Although I've no doubt many new blogs will sign up on an "all link trades are good" policy).
