Sure, there are men that want a "traditional" wife/ partner - and there are those women who love to fulfill that role. I suspect there is a certain amount of self-selection going into those responses, due to the nature of the article as a whole.

I agree that the economic question has a lot to do with it - in nations, financial support is the measure of manliness. Women in positions of economic power and independence creates a complete paradigm shift in how gender roles are interpreted/ enacted. I think it will take a while to have that sorted out - it's not been that long since these shifts started happening on a widely accepted scale, and it will take a few generations to catch up and breed out the bias in perception.
