This is somewhat off-topic, since my post is about a mainstream site.
While browsing today I found a site gotrump.com selling travel arrangements.
I recommend you to take a peek at this site. I believe it is very well done and that many of us can learn from it:
1. Short and sticky domain name
2. Good design. It has nice search form right at the top of the page. No BS - find out where you can spend your vacation after two seconds of navigation on the site.
3. Donald
signed picture at the top of the page for immediate personal guarantee to customer. First text on the page says "At Go
.com, you will get the lowest online rate on a wide variety of flights, hotels, and travel packages." -- right to the point, this is what I'll get if I stick with this site.
4. Various interaction possibilities immediately available and not obtrusive: "tell your friend", "book by phone and save", "newsletter", "win a trip". This increases number of bookmarkers for sure.
5. Most importantly, sales pitch is perfect, all about what I'll get from the site.
6. Very detailed site, even "privacy policy" and "about" pages are well done. Gives impression that people behind this site are very patient and skilled.
There are other good points, but I'll let others discuss them.
So, this is what I consider a good sales site. We can argue if their service is actually any good or not, but the site promises a lot, and gives impression of high quality.
