A Warning About This Forum

I've been wanting to get something off my chest for a few weeks now, so here it is....

Just because you blacklist someone does NOT mean that everyone & their grand-mother should also blacklist that webmaster.

We each have our own rules for blacklistings & just because Joe Blow webmaster posts their list of blacklisted domains does NOT mean that you should also add them to your blacklist.

What if the poster blacklists for FPA's but you allow them? How about blacklisting for pics on html pages when you accept free sites like that? Get what I'm saying?

Unless you have proof of what caused the blacklisting, please don't post.

I have thought that sooo many times. People just like to follow sometimes.|angry|

my wife said something the other day about dumb ass parents which kindof applies to this. We were watching a news story about a dude who wasnt watching his three year old who was in the closet playing with matches and burned down the whole appartment complex. He was interviewed by the station and he said "it was an accident, [my three year old] didnt know what he was doing" to which my wife says to me "yknow, kids may not come with instruction manuals but you would think that parents would come with some common sense"

linklists may not come with instruction manuals but you would hope the owner comes with some common sense |jester|

Ghost&Lliandrin 2004-07-21 07:58 PM

While I think it's a little sad that this had to be said I am so relieved that it was. Our little LL blacklists based solely on our own opinions. If we see something on this forum and then see the same thing in something that was submitted to us we may blacklist but never just cause someone else did. Also I try not to blacklist without trying to resolve the issue with the webmaster. I realize that I won't be able to always do that but it's nice now that we are little.

GoneApeShit 2004-07-27 04:51 PM

I only blacklist based on webmasters race,
gender, religous beliefs, and sexual preference |ref| J/K .

I would think that some offenses call for being banned by all if you know that the posted info is true and severe enough. If not then why post the banned webmaster info at all ?

Just an opinion from a small fry |waves|

I couldnt agree more. I once encountered a guy who listed loads of domains I knew were ok including one belonging to a very good friend. When I asked him why his reply was because he had a link to his own TGP among the recips, which his rules didnt allow.

Ender77 2005-03-31 04:41 PM

Well that these rules has acquired Terry which has listed a heap of domains to me never belonging and I at all do not know who from them submit!
However using exclusively "WhoIs" he has drawn an erroneous conclusion, that all of them belong to me and has accused of a local forum in cheating. Really two domains were mine, but I have given the second to the friend and trained him accustoming to this business. Yes I used for reception of new partner accounts fairly earned at Thumbzilla and at others...But to whom from it is already similar on a paranoia worse. As those who is engaged cheating all the same have accounts receive and buy and resell.

While I agree completely with GG and the whole topic I do have a related question or request....

My TGP is fairly new but seems to be taking off nicely. My concerns on blacklisting are - if there are just certain IPs or domains that the vast majority of LL and TGP owners know to be shady/untrustworthy and if so where would someone find this?

Don't get me wrong, I try to be a very reasonable person and blacklisting is not something that I want to just start throwing around just because one or two others think that should be BLed but by the same token I want to be prepared and have already read enough posts here to know that there are always going to be bad apples in the bunch.

For instance, I've already had a couple of hundred failed login attempts from just a few IPs. I'm sure that they are probably spoofed but it is frustrating nonetheless.... how do you old crustys usually handle that kind of BS? |angry|

|twinkle Common sense isn't that common. |twinkle |shocking|

Unlike in the movies where the hero says something blindingly obvious and everyone just suddenly falls in line, reality is where people start mindless pissing contests "just because" |banghead| and others just follow the person marketting their point better because it "sounds good." |confused| Damn it's the weekend and here I am thinking about where I work. |swear|

If not already, the posts allowed in this forum should should be accompanied by some sort of substantial proof, especially as programs themselves are being posted here and not just "linklist cheaters", lest it becomes a place where people can run wild with vendettas, knowing a lot of people just skim thread titles.

Even when people do read the thread, often the only post that counts is the first one and that's all they remember, never the last.

Finally, and this is a far reach I know, but in my opinion any "cheater forums" on any board should be (and many already are) posting-moderated.

I totally agree with that! Respect!

A lot of the rules on a lot of lists seem a little silly to me, and I dont/won't post to them. If I think the rule is especially silly (and there are a few), then I'll keep that rule and the webmaster that made it in mind for a pretty good while.

I came across a rule that said the list will blacklist anyone that uses images with watermarks. I dont submit to them, and never will, even with unwatermarked images. I have no desire to ever send them a single hit and encourage a behavior that presents a roadblock to new people trying to get a toe-hold in this business (even those competing with me), even if they send me a thousand in return.

Of course, it is their link list and they can do with it as they please. I dont wish them any ill.

Your absolutely right!!!

You are absolutely correct! I have not read it. I signed up about two hours ago, and I'm just learning the ropes around here. Please don't blacklist me. :)

All my love!
Jax
