View Full Version : 90 Day Challenge: Building a Micro-Niche Porn Blog

If anyone's interested i'm starting a 90 day challenge on my blog to detail how i build my micro-niche porn blogs.
I'll be building a new micro-niche blog from scratch with the goal of making it to #1 in Google within 90 days and i'll be revealing exactly how i research and select a potentially profitable keyword, how i setup and structure the site, how i'm able to rank quickly in Google, and finally (and hopefully) how i begin to make money from it.
You can read more about the challenge and follow the progress at my blog.
90 Day Challenge: Building a Micro-Niche Porn Blog (http://makemoneywithporn.net/90-day-challenge-building-a-micro-niche-porn-blog/)
Well I hope you'll throwe us an update bone here every once in a while, so we at least know when it's worth our while to click the link to your blog.
If you pick an obscure keyword it is pretty easy to end up in number one.
My two week old snorkeling blog is on Google's first page for the phrase "south Florida beach snorkeling (http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=gsis%2Ci18n%3Dtrue&cp=20&gs_id=3n&xhr=t&q=south+florida+beach+snorkeling&qe=c291dGggZmxvcmlkYSBiZWFjaCBzbm9ya2VsaW5n&qesig=d_ZqHEMfaUSduM5akh-_KA&pkc=AFgZ2tnn0z9tc_qxymV08XV5jebIL5pZXRvs3IntEVPh4FnMKaB5gvwctV5-X_ovHLInAcRWcS0WdtUFybPGzYyY0yywkuQxHg&pq=south+florida+snorkeling&pf=p&sclient=psy&safe=off&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=south+florida+beach+snorkeling&aq=0j&aqi=g-j1&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=eadabb030b5ce296&biw=1435&bih=1006)" without even trying and it's only on a .info domain.

Will do :)

Sure, and maybe it will only take me 2 weeks, or maybe i won't make it at all. Either way it's more about the journey than the destination and showing how i do things and what i've learned.

Hi David, I admire you for sharing your ideas in public |thumb btw. Are you going to use freesites as a link support tool?
davidbenedek
2011-09-10, 04:45 AM
Thanks Jeremy. I haven't used freesites in the past and i don't think i'll be using them for this challenge. My ideas on linking are a little different than most i think and i'll be posting an article about this during the challenge.

Ok, so the second post is up for my 90 Day Challenge. In this post i reveal my keyword and i show how i do my keyword research.

Ok, part 3 is up, you can check it out here (http://makemoneywithporn.net/90-day-challenge-003-%E2%80%93-how-to-setup-a-micro-niche-blog-before-you-add-content/).
This is just a basic post showing how to setup a wordpress blog so if you already have sites up you can probably skip this one.
However I do talk about the plugins i use and give a small status update on my challenge site so just skip to the bottom if you want to check that out.
Next week will get a bit deeper when i talk about why i structure my blogs differently than most other porn blogs.
Cheers.

Yeah, i'm hoping the next couple of updates might give a few new ideas to experienced webmasters as well ;)

Nice job, I'm not certain I'm understanding the significance of the url shortname tool. Surfers that are savvy enough to mouse over or check the toolbar, may be reluctant to click an unknown link.

Well it's 30 days in and Part 4 of the 90 Day Challenge is up on my blog, you can read it here (http://makemoneywithporn.net/90-day-challenge-004-my-site-structure-and-content-strategy/)
In this post i talk about how and why my site is structured quite differently than the typical adult blog, as well as why i think a lot of common perceptions about how an adult blog should be setup are making you spend a lot more time and work a lot harder for your money.
Cheers, David

There's a few reasons i use it...
1. I don't think the amount of people that wouldn't click on a cloaked link is enough to worry about.
2. It allows me to track the clicks on particular links
3. If i want to change a link that is on my site 100 times i just have to edit the 1 cloaked link
4. With the pro version i can automatically replace keywords with links

Actually, i think if anything more people would be reluctant to click on a link that was http: //refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA=XXXXXX-0000&PA=XXXXXXX&HTML=http://etcetc.com/792090889882343. etc.
Plus it makes the links on your own domain so it just looks like your link is going to another page on your site..

Your blog is down. All I'm getting are headers and opening/closing HTML, head and body tags. In my experience that usually means a CGI error (bad script or not enough processing power to deal with the number of CGI calls your server is getting).

It sounds as if you're not using tags .../>CLICK HERE</ for your links, at least how you're describing it. Why would you do that?

No i definitely do that, i just wrote them like that to make the example of what they would see in the toolbar when they mouseover

The first thing that comes on mind is choose some suitable photogalery (separate page), some WP plugin, or easy PHP SW. I'll check fulltext, I belive there are many good tools...

x-art caprice dot comMay I ask you, if you're strictly against submissions to blog directries? Of course, that many outgoing links on the main page is not the best idea, but on the other side, smart linking in Blog Submitter (http://www.adultblogresource.com/submitter/) is non direct (ABC) and it requires only 8 links. All these dirs are pretty well estabilished and they're giving some power to the domain in Google's eyes imho...

smart linking in Blog Submitter (http://www.adultblogresource.com/submitter/)
Probably not a good idea to use this service. Their "find trades" login has been coming up "under maintenance" for about a year now, and their list of sponsors contains several dead links. I would guess the people behind it have given up and fucked off, and although the form may be working, you are liable to find that you have populated your blog with a lot of dead links - which pisses off your surfers, looses bookmarks, and (I am told) attracts Google's Panda to your site.

David, does it have any sense to make separate sub-page instead of regular blog post (just asking...)?
Useless

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, are you talking about sub-domains? Or the way i structure my site with posts and pages?

Part 5 of the 90 Day Challenge is now up on my blog. You can read it here. (http://makemoneywithporn.net/90-day-challenge-005-%E2%80%93-backlinks-and-why-you-dont-need-them/)
This article is all about backlinks and why i think a lot of times you don't need them. From the article...
"Now, before you get all uppity and start telling me that i’m crazy and that backlinks are the most important aspect of getting a site ranking highly, sure, they absolutely are important and i’m not disagreeing with that, they are a hugely important factor in getting a site to rank but you need to look at the overall ROI (Return On Investment) and decide if spending 5 hours building links to a site is going to generate that much extra income, and by “Investment” i mean either in time if you’re doing the work yourself, or monetarily if you’re hiring someone to do that work for you."
Please remember i'm talking about micro-niches here, but a lot of this can be applicable to larger niche sites as well.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, are you talking about sub-domains? Or the way i structure my site with posts and pages?I'm taking about blog posts (galleries with stuff). They're done manually, not within the WP system... Maybe I'm wrong, correct me :)

I've just posted my final report for my 90 Day Challenge (http://makemoneywithporn.net/90-day-challenge-final-report/) blog (or FHLOG ;)). As i say in the report this challenge was more about having a structured way of showing the strategies i use to build my micro-niche blogs and i think i was reasonably successful in doing that, i would have liked to write a lot more but time got in the way so it is what it is :)
I hope you've enjoyed it and i still have plenty more to write about so be sure to check in every now and then, or better yet sign up to my email list so you'll be updated when i make a new post.
You can read the report here (http://makemoneywithporn.net/90-day-challenge-final-report/)

I don't use a plugin, just the standard wordpress gallery.
