Hey all, I have a page that hangs up pretty bad. I was wondering if there is a simple fix like a tag or something to tell the browser not to cache the entire flash file? [ I'm not a real technical type]

So I'm not using that as a tour page for now but would like to...

Or maybe it loads fast in your browsers?

Thanks for any suggestions...

yeah it's loading pretty slow here too, perhaps just set it up so the flash loads only when user clicks play

Hey thanks guys, yeah Cleo I know about the jacked errors below the vids.. [I just pasted some shit there] |loony|

my concern is the load time... greenie gets a good load time but others get slow load..

I sent the page to about 30 others and 90% say SLOW....

[this is with various browsers]

I'm with webair... does Greenie's load faster because he's closer to webairs NY servers?

Currenty I've ditched that template to open those files in new windows... http://www.jackoffencouragement.com/tour.html but I really want to get that content on the main page...

is that a browser setting? or just chance?

He most likely loads because he has a really fucking fast connections. I think he has Fios.

I'm on a slow miserable, on a good day, 3 meg dsl connection.

Cleo,

Will you try http://www.teenage-sex.mobi/ on your iphone and see if the right site comes up or if you see a blank wordpress install? If the mobile site does come up, let me know if anything looks screwy other than my overall design skills.

I've tested it with firefoxs iphone simulator and with the user agent switcher and it looks OK from here, but nothing works like the real thing.

Thanks.

Its the shockwave objects under "free sample clips". It took 5 seconds to download with them diabled and 26 until it was officially done with them on after clearing the cache.

If you dont mind, could you try it again?

This is what I found for your user agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.0; en-us; dream) AppleWebKit/525.10+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0.4 Mobile Safari/523.12.2

I'm keying off the word "Android"

If you want to test pages for the iphone you may want to download Safari and turn on the developer's menu.

Apple builds this function in.
Command-Shift-4 and drag to select the area you want.
Sleep Home on the iPhone.

Other key combos on the Mac,
To take a picture of the whole screen, press Command-Shift-3.

Command-Shift-4, then Spacebar Take a picture of the selected window

To copy the screen capture to the Clipboard instead of saving it as a file, press Control-Command-Shift-3 to copy the entire screen to the Clipboard, or Control-Command-Shift-4 to copy the selected range to the Clipboard.

LOL. That is pretty simple. I think I have it whipped now. Most htaccess examples wanted to force a redirect into a subdirectory, but I wanted a rewrite so both sites would show up in the root directory depending on the user agent. Needless to say, you caught me in the middle of screwing up my htaccess.

Hi Nate, how does this page load for you? fast or slow..
http://www.jackoffencouragement.com/test.html

6 seconds with scripting off, about 30 with it on. It isnt ewally hanging, because the entire page is showing up fast, but the little blue progress bar doesnt go away for 30 seconds.

I think its because during that 25 seconds, all three videos are downloading to the client. I get around that problem by not allowing the videos to start downloading until the user hit the play button. If the videos are coming from your site (which it looks like they are), you are going to burn needless bandwidth if people dont watch the movies.

I get around that with a player that shows a jpeg until the play button is hit, and I have an apache plgin that streams out the h264 while it plays instead of making it all download before it plays.

Try the top 2 or three videos here to see what I mean: http://www.teen-sex-tube.com/
