View Full Version : How many active Free Sites you have?

Alphawolf

As subject states...how many active free sites do you have on the 'net working for you?

On average, how many free sites do you make per month?

I have 8 now. :D

Greenguy
2004-09-13, 08:35 PM
I was making 5-7 a week, but I've been slacking as of late.

As far as how many I have active, all I can say is a lot :D

I make 2-3 per week for years and years...

Cleo

I only make about four a month these days but at one time I turned out as many as one a day for months at a time. I've been doing this since about 98 so I've long ago forgotten how many I have and even where they are. I have domains that I don't really remember what is on them.

Not as many as the folks above, but enough to produce sales each day of the week. |bananna|

(mental note : start building again)

Alphawolf

My goal is to submit 5 per week every week.

As I've gotten more effiicient, I can build one in about 1.5 hrs.

I'm gonna start building several per day to have a backlog of sites I can just submit during days off.

I've made $245 in 3 weeks which isn't a lot, but it seems when I sort by uniques each site makes a sale after it gets a fair number of uniques.

Especially now that it's just taking 1-1.5hrs per effective site- I'm very encouraged. Just hope it's not beginners luck or anything.

How does revenue scale with volume of sites made?

Meaning, if I made that amount with 8 sites if I had 80 is it realistic to think 10x the sales?

Or is it more exponential? It was neat to see the sale I got tonight was from the 2nd site I made 2 weeks ago. I feel like I literally did no work for that sale. :)

I also expect to get more efficient within the next month or so as I'll have historical data to see what sites may sell better and mimic those sites techniques .

I had my doubts about doing this full time or even commiting a lot of energy to it- but...I'm a bit more encouraged now.

I like how there are 3 waves of traffic-

1) The LL's that list straight away.
2) The LL's that take a while to list like PB/WP
3) The search engines pick up the sites

I must admit I haven't done all I can do to maximize each sites traffic. I have just 1 recip table and no mirror sites yet. :(

18 LL's listings per site. Well, 17 since it takes RR's a month to catch up- IF he even lists them which I have my doubts.

Now that I'm more efficient, I can take the time to look into mirror sites and submitting to more lists... :)

I'm hopin' 3 months from now the checks will actually be of decent size.

The benchmark is that the income from free sites would cover rent. That would be a nice place to reach and feel really cool! :D

Cleo

You will start picking up SE traffic from your older listings as time goes on.

It is exponential. :)

How many sites to I need to have b4 I can request partner accounts?

I'd really like to be able to sub more than just 1 site per day soon.

I don't mean you specifically, but in general.

I'd guess I'd need at least 6 recips to submit so what does it take to get partner accounts with the higher traffic producing sites- if they have them?

1 site per day feels like a big bottleneck.

I guess I could build a backlog of sites, more "templates" and work on my hub as I earn my strips.

Well, as you asked, my list shows 168.

Free sites are nice because first you get listed with some LLs, others list you later and when months go you get traffic from SEs. You get sign-ups from sites you have built months or years ago and totally forgot.

I still even have some free sites in free hostings I built before September 1999 when I hired space from Strictly Hosting. It's amazing to have a check from sponsor I haven't promoted from almost 5 years.

80 sites won't give you 10x more sales. Selling is harder these days. But, keep building and submitting, sign-ups will come.

You have the right thought-processes, Alphawolf. I always like seeing webmasters who admit they don't know it all and are big enough to ask questions.

My advice would be to submit daily to 30 to 50 (there are, unfortunately, few others worth a submission). Try and get partner accounts now. GG&J is populated by link list owners who know and probably already trust you. Try for 2 sites per day, using different niches and sponsors.

You then have your galleries for tgp (which, despite what they say, can pay an awesome amount if worked right). If you haven't already, get yourself a load of tgp partner accounts. Spend a few hundred dollars and pay for some passes too.

Do this quick enough and you have more time to post on gg&j :)

Very few, but now with fall and winter coming I'll have more time to build and submit and to build and submit. Did I mention I was gonna build and submit more?

I have 82 just looking now... but aiming for 8000 lol
Seriously though, I guess I have not made enough to really know for sure but, about half have mirrors and the other half don't, the ones without have had more sign ups if thats any help to you. I dont know what is better, spending the time that you would need to make mirrors and submitting them, or making a new site instead with that time.
Anyone have some idea on that?

Anyone have some idea on that? Make new sites...tons and tons of them...submit them everywhere and LL's that accept more than one hit them with two. :D

So, far I have been using sponsor content and therefor each site is limited to one sponsor. This will change as I get some money in.

I was thinking that generally each page should do it's wiz bang best to promote each sponsor site.

You then have your galleries for tgp (which, despite what they say, can pay an awesome amount if worked right). If you haven't already, get yourself a load of tgp partner accounts. Spend a few hundred dollars and pay for some passes too.

TGP worries me BW wise. It seems like a BW burner. I think I'll stick my toe in that a month from now or thereabouts.

Buy some partner accounts, search my ass off on building good converting galleries, etc...then venture into that iffy water. :)

Do this quick enough and you have more time to post on gg&j :)

;)

I actually consider reading/posting on boards as part of work.

WHOA. I just got another sale! $280 for me. WooHoo!

I think the thing that makes me more confident is that every site I made has gotten sales. Hmm..except 1 that hasn't gotten many uniques. And the latest submitted yesterday.

If a pick up some content and can have multiple sponsors that will increase the chance of a sale dramatically(?)

I mean, if joe surfer is into lesbian sites and I have 3 or more sponsors with good tours and he doesn't buy one of them then he's just a fuckin' BW burner.

That's my general thinking anyways...

That's for the reply. |thumb

Congrats on the 1000! |bananna|

Just to clarify what I mentioned above. I don't mean you should promote more than one sponsor on a site. If you can submit two a day, I'd advise submitting them to different niches, and using two different sponsors. ie one mature site using flash cash, one teen site using silvercash. You maximise your chances this way.

And yes, invest in some content when you can. Don't be scared of tgp either. There are ways to make it work. Hit me up when you decide to take the plunge. :)

You're doing great, Alphawolf! I bet if you'd made 8 TGP galleries you wouldn't have made $280 in 3 weeks & you'd have a much bigger bandwidth bill.

Which reminds me...I should really be building more free sites! lol

GG: Thanks. Looking forward to it. :)

Maybe |buddy| could have saved my mouse piss and shit infested drive from failing.

KCat: I'm thinking the same thing. I've gone though 27Gigs so far. A good chunk of that is from the 1st movie free site I did.

No more movie sites for me for a long while.

I've wanted one of those for years. Too bad my post count got wiped back in the crash... I have no idea what it was.

I made 7 free sites a week for more then 2 years, the last 9 months , i did maybe 6 or 7 , i dont like making free sites because i am to picky with colors and all, i can nag over a free site for a week before i have finish it. projects i like more so thats what i have been doing most the last 9 months, just started again with free sites so maybe 4 a week i will make.

I often use one sponsor. I think that if I tell the surfers site A is better than sliced bread and then tell site B is too, that's not wise.

But, I also use 2 or 3 sponsors in warning page, only one in main page and two in galleries. In many niches there is sub niches, like if you build femdom site it has trample and facesitting sub niches, spanking etc. Believe me, I have been in place when one real live domina had session with male slave (it wasn't me).

As long as you filter by using different niches, this doesn't matter.

ie This is the best teen site. This is the best Mature site.

However, I find high CTR comes from defining, and promoting, a USP rather than an entire site.

Why the hostility towards tgp? |jester| 1 gallery alone should me enough to make $280 or more (with bandwidth at a minimum).

When you make your free sites again, I'd advise always making a practice of turning them into galleries. You may not make $280 or more per gallery, but you should still make extra profit for minimal effort. :)

there are plenty of good sponsors out there who offer free bannerless hosting for their affiliates...
I always use those for tgp's and save my bandwidth for more productive traffic.... just buy a few domains , they are really cheap now, and away you go....

I still submit a TGP gallery everyday because they're quick, but I sure as hell don't make $280 off 'em. My free sites will send the odd sale months later, whereas galleries are hit or miss. I hired a submitter for a couple of weeks & 15 galleries later, not a single sale! It seems my partner accounts with Pichunter & Shemp are the only ones that actually convert for me.

prob 15-20

most weeks, submit once a day.

but dunno if I can handle that once the university starts next week ;(((((((((

if I'm productive and don't distract myself like I'm doing right now when I should be making my site, I could prob finish it under 2 hours and submissiosn take 30 min with AS to about 130 or some LLs, right now I've been adding 8 LLs to my database a day
