TECH QUESTION OF THE MONTH
With all these little devils around, it's no wonder that things break sometimes, and often it's the same thing over and over and over again. So we spoke with our tech support to see which problems are plaguing you the most and learn some easy fixes, so that you can get your feeds running smoothly in no time. The question for this month:

Q: Some of my users complain that they are denied access to your feed consoles. For others, it works just fine. What is going wrong?

A: In order to make feeds consoles secure, we have to make sure the surfer is actually a member of your paysite. Otherwise, anyone could watch your feeds and run up your feed bill! One of the pieces of information we check is called the 'referring agent', or 'referrer'. This is information that your web browser sends out every time you surf to a web page. It tells the site you are visiting the URL of the site you were looking at previously.

Privacy settings with various Windows firewall and anti-virus software, and even Internet Explorer, can hide the 'referrer' information that is sent with each web request. This is part of the information that BadAssFeeds uses to determine if a surfer is a legitimate member of your paysite. If no referrer is sent, your feeds consoles will assume your paying customer is not legitimate and deny them access to the feeds.

If you have any surfers that run into this problem, there are a couple of easy steps to determine if their anti-virus/privacy software is getting in the way:

-Have them temporarily disable any firewall
-Have them temporarily disable any anti-virus or spyware software (Norton, Symantec etc)
-Make sure Internet Explorer privacy settings are set to medium or low
-Have them test the feeds again with these things turned off.

If the consoles appear to work after running these tests, have the client refer to their security software's documentation. Most of these programs have the ability to create a 'white list' of trusted sites for which the security settings will not apply. They can then re-enable their security software while enjoying BadAssFeeds!

TIMELY PAYMENTS KEEP 'EM COMING
We encourage all our customers to send payments on time to avoid feeds being turned off on the 30th. The scoundrels of our billing department appreciate timely payments. If you have sent a payment via snail mail, epassport, or wire transfer, please copy billing on all receipts so they make note of your pending payment.

When payments are not received, the feeds will be disabled on the Thursday after unless other arrangements have been made. If your feeds are disabled, they will turn on automatically upon receipt of payment. Keep the feeds on and keep your members turned on.
